[Monthly Project] #5 March 2017 Beauty Haul 🔖

Monthly Project (April 2017)

#5 Hyeon's March 2017 Beauty Haul

Delayed by a month, I'm would like to share with you my huge beauty haul which happened on last month. Stay with me as I am going to briefly run you through my long list.

DO NOT just read through the whole passage! Leave a comment below and share with me your thoughts after reading :) I really wish to interact with y'all ^_^

**********************************************************************************

Monthly Project; March 2017 Beauty Haul

Disclaimer: It's wasn't my initial intention to buy such amount of beauty products.. T^T I didn't get all these products in one-go. It was a total of 4 purchase which were done at different time... and it ended like what we have here.

Okay, let's break it down to 2 category: drugstore haul and online shopping haul.

Drugstore Haul - Guardian Health and Beauty

First, the drugstore. There was a month-end promotion at Guardian, a local drugstore. Certain makeup brands (i.e. Maybelline and Revlon) are having "buy 3 for 2" which this promotion is very luring for drugstore beauty fanatic, like me...

Monthly Project; March 2017 Beauty Haul; Guardian

What I've got here are:-
(1) Maybelline's Instant Age Rewind Concealer 120 Light
(2) Maybelline's The Falsies Push Up Drama Waterproof
(3) Revlon's Super Lustrous Lipstick Matte 016 Paradise Pink
(4) Garnier's Micellar Cleansing Water 400ml

The total amount spent was RM107.85. (sorry for I didn't mark down the price for individual product @@)

The reason why I bought the Maybelline's concealer and Garnier's cleansing water is because both they gained much popularity and good reviews. I've tested the concealer using the tester available at the drugstore, and indeed its creamy formula and matte-finish really amazed me. As for the cleansing water, I'm currently using it and please stay tuned for its individual review soon! :D

The Paradise Pink from Revlon is absolutely gorgeous. I love the color right at the spot. It is a lighter shade of red with orange undertone. Plus, it has matte-finish which the colour could lasts a bit longer, my personal preference. Just can't wait to show it to you! :D

As for the Maybelline's Push Up Drama Waterproof Mascara, honestly, I bought it because of two reasons: (1) in order to be eligible for the "buy 3 for 2" promo; (2) Gigi Hadid looked gorgeous with it from the advert. (heh)

That's the end of my drugstore beauty haul. Coming to the next category - online shopping! It has been my after-work entertainment lately (LOL)

Online Shopping Haul Pt. 1 - my.Althea.kr

If you have been keeping up with my posting, it wouldn't be a hard guess for you to tell which are my favourite online shopping websites.

Yeap, it's either Althea, Hermo or Gmarket. These are the 3 online shopping websites which I always check out from time to time. Among three, Althea has been my first favourite website as they offer the cheapest price at most of the times (i.e. promotion discount code, monthly buy 2 for 1 promotion, new item discount, and etc.)

Particularly, I've made 2 orders from Althea during the month of March, separately in 6 days apart. The products from my first purchase were those I've pick-and-choose/considering since February. Not long after I submitted my purchase, Althea then was having buy 2 for 1 "March Sharing" promotion (say whutt??) Then I saw Benton's Aloe BHA Skin Toner (which I just recently read good review) is in the product list. At the end, I submitted my 2nd purchase by including some other products in order to reach the minimum amount for free shipping (get free shipping for minimum RM99 and above per order) (as below).

Monthly Project; March 2017 Beauty Haul; Althea
Lovely pink packaging

Monthly Project; March 2017 Beauty Haul; Althea

Here's what I've got from the 2 orders:- (no specific order)
(1) CFC Lab's Argan Glow Hair Oil 110ml
(2) Demeter's Laundromat Perfume 15ml
(3) Lizly's What a Chic Palette
(4) Jill2's Aqua Blossom O.L.E.D Whitening Cream 50ml
(5) ONSAEMEEIN's Perfect Moisture-Cream 70ml
(6) Medi Heally's Waist Warm Pack 2ea
(7) Milky Dress' Lady Spot Nine Serum
(8) Benton's Aloe BHA Skin Toner 200ml
(9) Calmia's Cleansing Tissue 87g
(10) Witch's Pouch's Love Me Blusher Indie Violet 11g
(11) Benton's Snail Bee High Content Essence 60ml
(12) Moksha's Dear Mask Sheabutter
(13) It's My's Magic Sponge (free gift)

I've tried on most of the products mentioned above, but I still need some time to consolidate a review for each product, so please stay tuned! ;)

As of now, there are a few of products which I've gained love for it. For instance, CFC Lab's Argan Glow Hair Oil, Lizly's What a Chic Palette, Benton's Aloe BHA Skin Toner & Snail Bee High Content Essence. Good products and results are prominent. Definitely will share with you a detailed review later on!

Online Shopping Haul Pt. 2 - Gmarket.co.kr

Okay, this is quite unexpected and it's out-of-the-blue. One day, I was watching a Korean Youtuber who introduces Point's Cleansing Cream in her daily night routine. I wasn't really fancy of double-cleansing because I am lazy.

Then another day, my friend Yvonne asked me randomly, "do you have anything want to buy on Gmarket?". I thought, "lemme just search the product and see how much it cost. if it's pricy, I would just forget about it".

It so happened that Point's online store was having "buy 1 free 1" promotion for certain products, including the cleansing cream. It was RM41.60 for 2 500ml cleansing cream. So I put in my order, add up the EMS oversea shipping fee, blah blah blah, it ended up with RM79.20 for 2 of these.

At first, I was speculative about the product and how long will it last for 500g. But I was wrong. With just a little amount, it can remove my entire face makeup. So eventually, I didn't feel that bad for purchasing these cleansing cream. Well, it's all about products that worth the money. At least they will last for a good 6 months for sure.

[Review] Missha - The Style 4D Mascara

Hi everyone! ;)

Today I'm gonna share with you a mascara product from Missha. Frankly, I isn't a big fan of mascara. Before this, I tried mascara products which are way too heavy and clumpy when applied on, which feels like my lashes are tons heavier. And another problem I had was some products are easy to apply, yet difficult to remove.

Now, don't underestimate it because this could be life-changing. Let's begin with its design and I'll explain to you along the way.

Review; Missha's The Style 4D Mascara
Missha's The Style 4D Mascara | 미샤 더 스타일 4D 마스카라 | 7g

First of all, I really like its sleek-straight design, which makes it easier to carry in bag/pouch. You know, sometimes mascara products come in fancy-funny designs. Well, I prefer it to be simple and classic, just like Missha's did here.

Review; Missha's The Style 4D Mascara

As expected from its long packaging, the mascara wand is long as well. It doesn't really bothers me, but maybe some might think longer wand gives less grip while applying the mascara. It really depends on your preference thou :/

Review; Missha's The Style 4D Mascara

Let's take a closer look at the brush itself. See the tiny gaps between the bristle? That's perfectly explains why it can effectively brushes over and coats mascara on our lashes, especially for those who have scarce thin and short lashes, just like mine.

Well, according to its product description, it is made out of plant-wax which not only skin-friendly, but also provides nutrients to the lashes. To a certain point, I do notice my lashes are getting longer, thicker and stronger after a period of consistent usage of the product (more than 1 month). Does every mascara has this "hidden-ability"?? I don't know T^T

Okay, let's try it on! :D Trust me, you cannot rush the process. To get the best out of it, brush or comb your lashes evenly and patiently, that's the golden rule.

Review; Missha's The Style 4D Mascara

And the result after one coat of this mascara is as below...

Review; Missha's The Style 4D MascaraReview; Missha's The Style 4D Mascara

You can always add 2~3 coats of mascara in order to get the dramatic look. But most of the times, I'll just go with one, just enough to intensify my natural lashes.

**Tip: Clean your mascara brush once in a while to avoid clumps.**

Review; Missha's The Style 4D Mascara

In fact, Missha has another mascara product which looks exactly the same as this one here; it is non-other than The Style 3D Mascara. I think the most significant difference between these 2 products is the shape of the brush: one is triangular-shaped and another is square-shaped (as below).

For a makeup beginner like myself, I really enjoy this product because of its light-weighed and long lasting formula, which makes it a perfect item for daily makeup. Another bonus is that, it is waterproof too!

Most of all, it costs only RM16 if you buy from Althea! (about KRW3,300 if you buy from Korea). Where on earth can you get such good mascara product at such affordable price? Many YouTubers also recommended this product. But of course, I wouldn't consider it to be "the ultimate mascara product" since it doesn't provide volume effect :s

In collaboration with LINE Friends, Missha's The Style 3D & 4D Mascara are also available in another packaging. So don't be confused :3

[Restaurant] Dinner @ Upperstar Pepper Grill & Bar, Damai

2017년4월15일 (토요일) Dinner @ Upperstar Pepper Grill & Bar, Damai

Tasty steaks and lamb chop at affordable price? You're at the right place, fella ;)

- Address : 8, Jalan Damai, Luyang, 88300 Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia.
- Operating Hours: 11AM–12AM
- Phone : +60 88-260 388

Well, it really doesn't need further explanation. Upperstar has been a rising star even since the business started.

There is an outlet located just 10-minute drive from my house. Easily it becomes one of our favourite places to have Western cuisine.

Dad was craving for lamb chop, and that's the main reason why we are here tonight. Well-done lamb done served in Upperstar sauce and french fries. I still prefer to go with Mint sauce tho :9

It's almost like a fast-food chain restaurant, so don't expect high-end service and consistent flavour. (ouch) I don't mind actually. Anyway that's the fact. Definitely there's room for improvement。

-Lamb chop served with Upperstar sauce (RM20++)
April 15 Dinner @ Upperstar Pepper Grill & Bar, Damai

My food choice in Western cuisine? Absolutely creamy and cheezy, it can't run away. Spaghetti Carbonara, specially ensure the kitchen to serve with thick sauce. (why so?) Because they are not in consistency whenever they are serving pasta with sauce. And this pasta here is just what I expected, by look. As for the taste, it was very subtle. Pasta cooked just nice. Overall, so-so.

-Spaghetti Carbonara (RM8++)
April 15 Dinner @ Upperstar Pepper Grill & Bar, Damai

So what if you don't feel like eating Western cuisine? Don't worry, they have Asian cuisine on the menu as well.

Okay, apparently they had their menu changed recently. Mum spotted and ordered this, a combination of fried chicken and fried fish served with sambal sauce. Seriously, I can't remember what's the name of this dish already x.x (my apologies) I tasted a bit of the chicken with the sambal sauce, I thought it was a good combination. Well, it hardly goes wrong with good sambal sauce. We are all about "Malaysian's style".

-Lalapan Delight ; Mixed fried chicken and fish served with sambal sauce (RM8++)
April 15 Dinner @ Upperstar Pepper Grill & Bar, Damai

If you just wanna chilling with friends and family, I think this should be a great place for such gatherings. Food price here is around average, ranging about RM7 to RM25, With that price range, you shouldn't be expecting too much out of it. Really :)

Don't grumble. Give thanks and enjoy!

Cheers! ^_^

[Review] The Face Shop - Designing Eyebrow Pencil

Hi everyone! :)

Today I'm gonna to share with you my first brow product review!

I admit, I'm not a pro when it comes to brow (still have much to learn). I used to have a lot of brow hair and it looks messy and manly (probably that's genetic idk XD). Then mum brought me to aesthetic beauty center to trim my brows when I started university. It costs around RM10 per appointment, then I thought I could just trim them myself back at home to save the money $$.

Okay, even so I still have uneven brows (and I think most of us do), but how to conceal the fact? Or I should say, how to make it appears less obvious?

Yes, pretty ladies, eyebrow pencil should be your best friend from now on! :3

The Face Shop's Designing Eyebrow Pencil | 더페이스샵 디자이닝 아이브로우 | 0.3g / 0.01 fl. oz.

The brow product I have here today is the Designing Eyebrow Pencil from The Face Shop (TFS). I bought them from Hermo, 2 for RM20 (current price might varies). The reason why I bought it's also because of cheap deals (of course).

The 2 colors are #03 Brown and #05 Dark Brown, respectively (as below). It was the only bundle option they have at that time, so I didn't really choose which color I want.

Just by a glimpse, you might not be able to tell the color difference. If you look carefully, #03 Brown is a bit like reddish-brown or yellowish-brown. I usually go for #03 Brown for a more vibrant natural look.

It has flat square tip which is less irritates compared than sharp edge tip. In a way, it is also easier to draw flat and straight brow, especially for beginners like myself.

Okay, it's the time for magic! (heh) 변신타임! ㅎ

 <--- Before (natural uneven brow><)

First, what I usually do is, to draw an outline (like below; for illustration only). It may take some time to find your favourite brow shape.

I'm going to use #03 Brown for illustration today.

Then, fill in the brows, from the front to the end.

Last and most importantly, blend out the edges (especially put more effort to blend the front-end) with the spoolie brush attached at the other end of the eyebrow pencil. Repeat the steps (whichever necessary) if you aren't satisfied with the results.

And, we are done! :D

Here's some photos I took on another day :) I used #05 Dark Brown to outline my brows, and #03 Brown to fill in the gaps.

You might noticed that my brow aren't perfectly symmetrical.. That's because I'm still haven't mastered the art of brow 😭 It's really frustrating, but I will keep trying.

As for the product itself, I think it is really convenient as it is an auto-eyebrow pencil, which doesn't require to sharpen from time to time, like the convention ones. All you need is to twist the cap to use brow pencil. Same theory as lipsticks. Make sure you close the lids after using, otherwise the formula will dries up.

Color wise, both #03 Brown and #05 Dark Brown are very suitable for daily look. The flat tip itself comes in super handy to create the straight-brow look.

Price wise, it is absolutely affordable and worth the money. I would recommend this for people like me (beginners; people who wants to sleep late in the morning yet wants their eyebrows done in few minutes).

Rating: 4.5/5

Recommend: Yes, great product with affordable price.

Repurchase: Yes!

[Restaurant] Brunch @ Kedai Kopi Janggut (鬍鬚佬茶餐室), Hilltop

2017년4월8일 (토요일) Brunch @ Kedai Kopi Janggut (鬍鬚佬茶餐室), Hilltop

Do you enjoy tom yam soup? Do you enjoy seafood? Do you like to explore new places?

If your answer is triple "yes" to the above questions, you are at the right place!

Brunch @ Kedai Kopi Janggut (鬍鬚佬茶餐室), Hilltop
Brunch @ Kedai Kopi Janggut (鬍鬚佬茶餐室)

- Address : 2, Lorong Gunung Ulu Merak 2, Taman Far East, 88300 Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia.
- Operating Hours : 6:45AM - 3:45PM (Close at every Tuesday)

Actually I have been noticing this restaurant for quite sometime ago. I thought to myself, "that's an interesting name for a restaurant!" (literally "Kedai Kopi Janggut" means "Beard Cafe" in Malay). And yet, it has nothing to do with the beard, really.

This restaurant is located a block behind Klinik Hilltop. There are quite a few restaurants here are known for good food, and I hope I can share with you more in the future :)

Coming back to the Beard Cafe (heh).

As soon as we settled down, a staff carrying with a Tab (an electronic device) to take orders. He literally sat down on one of the chairs from our table, waiting for us to make the orders. Well... that's unexpected :x

Basically there are 3 steps to complete an order: (1) choose a soup base (tom yam, bitter-gourd, or choy sum), (2) choose between meehoon or mee, (3) choose the meat kind (fish slices, fish cake (鱼滑), prawn).

If you know me, how can I miss the chance to try out their tom yam soup? Nowayyy :9

Seeing the colour of the soup might be terrifying, but it is not as spicy as you thought it will be. In fact, the taste reminds me of Kedai Kopi Ah Chee Tom Yam (阿志冬炎), the one who used to be at Sinsuran, but now relocated to Gaya Street.

Brunch @ Kedai Kopi Janggut (鬍鬚佬茶餐室), Hilltop
Tom yam meehoon soup

As for the meat selection, I chose fried fish slices. There are 4 big chunks of fried fish slices in per serving. Quite generous.

Brunch @ Kedai Kopi Janggut (鬍鬚佬茶餐室), Hilltop

As expected, dad ordered with bitter-gourd soup base. They say it is good for health. It actually look and taste way more appetizing than I thought. Not that awful tho. If you had too much acidic foods recently which causes “yeet hay”, you may want to eat a bowl of this to cool it down.

Bitter-gourd meehoon soup

Do I enjoy my brunch today? Picture speaks louder than words.

Brunch @ Kedai Kopi Janggut (鬍鬚佬茶餐室), Hilltop

To our surprise, a friend of dad's who was having meal nearby saw us and paid for our meal today. (Thank God for unexpected blessing!) The total bill for today's brunch is RM21.50. If I have guessed correctly, the 2 bowls of meehoon would cost RM8.50 each and 1 Kopi O would cost RM2.50. That's merely my guessing since we didn't ask the price of the food individually.

Will I revisit this restaurant in near future? Yes, I can't wait!

Will I recommend this restaurant? Yes, speed service and good food. Just a bit pricy, as expected.

Cheers! ^_^

[Review] Witch's Pouch - Selfie Perfect Concealer No. 21 Light Beige

Hello everyone! :)

Today I am going to share with you a very promising liquid concealer by Witch's Pouch. If you haven't heard of this brand, I hope this sharing today will give you a glimpse of it.

Review; Witch's Pouch's Selfie Perfect Concealer No. 21 Light Beige
Witch's Pouch's Selfie Perfect Concealer No. 21 Light Beige | 위치스 파우치 셀피 퍼펙트 컨실러 21호

Witch's Pouch, alongside with The Choute, Luabo and Clytia, is one of the cosmetic & skincare brands hold by iCharming Co. Ltd.

Why is it named "Witch's Pouch"? The word "Witch" is "Ma-Nyeo (마녀)" in Korean. Although it can be a term to describe ladies who are difficult to deal with, but at the same time, it can also refers to ladies whom are attractive enough to tempt men; in South Korea, they are called "Ma-Nyeo". Maybe this would remind you of the Korean drama "Witch Yoo Hee"?

I bought this product from Althea for RM20 quite sometime ago. The shade I'm using is No. 21 (Light Beige). It comes in a ballpen-like slim design (as below).

Review; Witch's Pouch's Selfie Perfect Concealer No. 21 Light Beige

Its tip applicator/brush is made of micro fibre. All you need is to click the button at one end, the liquid concealer will be extract through the tip applicator.

It's design is very handy for spot concealing. First, apply the liquid concealer on the spots/blemishes you wish to cover. Then blend it out either with your fingertip, concealer brush, or beauty sponge - whichever your preference is.

Results speak it all :D

Review; Witch's Pouch's Selfie Perfect Concealer No. 21 Light Beige

In terms of coverage, I think this Selfie Perfect Concealer is above averagely good. Though you might still notice blemishes in close, but they are almost invisible in normal contact/interaction distance. Good thing is, you can layer up the concealer to give higher coverage.

**Tip : Do not spread the formula across the skin if you want higher coverage! Try building or layering the formula by pressing into the skin with a beauty sponge instead.**

Overall, in terms of pricing and functionality, I think it is a worth purchase. I really like the canvass finishing after using this product. It almost looks like you are using a beauty filter while taking selfies, but you're not :D

If I must point out one thing which I dislike about this product, I would say the strong powedery scent (ahh-choo). Other than that, it's really a handy makeup product which you can carry it everywhere! :)

Rating: 4/5

Recommend: Yes, great functionality with affordable price!

Repurchase: Maybe, because I want to try out more products in the future..

Do lemme know your thoughts after reading this product review or share yours experience with me in the comment box below.
