[Resort] 2D1N at Kokol Haven, Kokol Hill 1.1 Check In + Room Tour

Hello and welcome to Kota Kinabalu, Sabah.
My hometown.

In the past, I only did travel journal only when I'm away from home.
Then I came to realize many people actually didn't know much about Sabah besides islands.
Well of course the islands are marvelous, but we have much more to offer.

As you know, I'm not an "adventure" and "outdoor" kind-of person,
so you wouldn't see me exploring water activities or hiking.

Here I wish to share with you some go-to places in Sabah that are different from what your tour guide would suggest. Yes, travel like a local.

Are you ready for that? :D

Read on to find out more!

Kokol Haven Resort

First off, I would like to recommend Kokol Hill, which is about 20km from Kota Kinabalu city.
Since it is not far from the city, it became a hotspot for a weekend away.

You can find many resorts, villas and homestay built along the hill.
Here I would like to share with you my 2D1N staying experience at Kokol Haven Resort.

Located 25km from the central city, it takes about 40 minutes to 1 hour drive to reach the resort.

The resort is located on top of Kokol Hill (one of the Crocker Range starting point).
The resort itself is 2,700 feet above sea level.

I remember there wasn't a proper tar road like 10 years ago.
Not to worry, now the road condition is good, so you can enjoy the ride.

We checked in straight away upon arrival.
The office is located beside the drink bar (below).

The administration office is really homely as you can see (below).
I noticed that the board games are available for a certain deposit.
Definitely check them out and spend your night away with a bunch of friends.

The dining area is just right in front of the administration office,
and the view here is ABSOLUTELY CAPTIVATING!

We soon found out that there will be a wedding reception here later in the evening.
No wonder the set-up is so dreamy!

Our room for tonight is located at the Rose Villa.
Guests are advised to drive up and park your car at the open spaces in front of the villa.
(p/s: there are limited parking lots at the reception building)

We booked a Family Room which is around RM400+ per night and able to fit 5-6 adults.
To our surprise, it is a 2-storey room!
(didn't know that earlier since mum did the room booking heh)

Once entered the room, you will find a queen-sized bed and a small living area with TV set.

A balcony with wide mountain view is just right beside the living area.

A narrow staircase is found right beside the front door, leading to the second storey.
Watch out your steps!

Some sort of attic feel, yeah? :D
Love it!

With less furniture and fixtures, the upper-storey is more spacious and I can imagine people gather around in circle playing board games or card games on the wood floor. :)

It is an air-conditioned room.
If you don't wish to turn on the air-con, you can always open up the windows, allowing the mountain breeze to blow in.
(depending on the weather)

And yes, the room is equipped with hot water, so not to worry to bath in the chilly nights.
