[Review] Dr. Morita - Hyaluronic Acid Essence Mask

Hello everyone! :)

How did you celebrate new year? I hope you had fun! :D

Welcome back and this is the FIRST review of the year!

I really wanted to try out as many sheet masks as I could, but recently my skin condition is so bad (duhhh), that I can only go for moisturizing and soothing ones.

Heard that Dr. Morita has a few highly recommended sheet masks. The Hyaluronic Acid Essence Mask is one of them.

Interested to find out more about it? Continue to read on and find out! :)

The brain behind the brand, Dr. Morita dedicated his life-research to skincare R&D and founded the
brand after his name in 1934 in Taiwan.

Known in the region as one of the pioneers in facial mask, Dr. Morita has developed an extensive range of sheet masks - hydrating, whitening, repairing, soothing, or anti-aging - that cater for every skin type.

Notably, Dr. Morita was awarded the Best Facial Mask in 2008 and 2009 by Watson Taiwan (a pharmaceutical chain stores). Since then their products have been well-received, especially in Hong Kong and Taiwan, and ultimately becoming one of the top selling sheet masks in the region.

This is my very first experience with Dr. Morita's sheet mask. Never tried any product from the brand before.

First impression, the packaging gives me an impression of a Japanese brand, but in fact, it is originated from Taiwan. Flip the packaging to the back and you can see the product description is in both Chinese and English.

"Dr. Morita Hyaluronic Acid Essence Mask, including large, medium, small molecule, Ceramide and complex moisturizing ingredient, which keep your skin moisture, smooth skin fine line and resist skin aging." -Dr. Morita.

Very direct English translation, I know (heh). As long as it delivers the message, I think it's fine. :)

"Relieve roughness, dry lines and age spots caused by dryness." -Amazon.

Aside hyaluronic acid, I would like to special mention a few botanical extracts which included in the ingredient list: Sponge Cucumber, Cucumber, Licorice and Algae - whereby they help with soothing skin redness and cooling down skin temperature.

Once opened the packet, you will see the sheet mask soaked moistly in the watery essence. Yes, the essence is transparent clear as water, as you can see.

The essence is dripping while I'm holding the sheet mask (as below). :')

It doesn't have significant scent, but rather a subtle lab scent. Imagining yourself working in skincare lab... Well I find most of the sheet masks smell like this.

When it comes to sheet mask, I'm super concerned about its texture. I like sheet masks made of cotton and silk cotton.

For this case, there is no-where mention the material, so I'm guessing the sheet mask is using a cotton-hybrid material, that can hold lots of moisture, but half the thickness of pure cotton. If you know the correct term for this material, do let me know in the comment box below! ;)

Since the sheet mask is very thin, they included a gauze sheet to better unfold the product.

Make sure you remove the gauze sheet when masking.

As you can see, the sheet mask is nearly invisible on the face! Silky-smooth and very adhesive.

As suggested by Dr. Morita, apply the sheet mask for 10 to 15 minutes and you will be able to achieve 10 times more moisture than others. Did it deliver? Well, I don't know how to quantify 10 times or whatsoever, but my skin is definitely plumped up and cooled down after masking.

Although the product didn't wow me as I anticipated, overall I had a good experience using this moisturizing sheet mask from Dr. Morita. Love the fact that the formula is gentle on the skin and plumped up my skin in shorter time. Also, the sheet mask is thin and face-hugging.

Will I go for more? Not really. In terms of essence, I still prefer Mediheal though. :)

This product is available on Watson for retail price RM6.50 per piece.
