Hello everyone! :)

It's been more than a year since my last review on It's Skin's Power 10 Formula VC Effector serum! The review has gained thousands of views (as of date) and even shoot up to be one of the most-viewed posts on my blog. Then I noticed many are interested to find out whether these affordable serums are worth the try.

So here we are today as we take a look at the Propolis serum from the brand's premium Power 10 Formula series.

First thing first, what is Propolis?

source : kontak.bio

Propolis, or a.k.a. bee glue, is made by honey bees by mixing saliva, beeswax and sap gathered from tree buds, as a coating / sealant for unwanted open spaces in the beehive.

It has been known for its medicinal, particularly healing properties, since thousands of years ago.

In the modern days, researchers have polyphenols (or specifically, flavonoids) in propolis, which is a natural antioxidants. Flavonoids are also found in fruits, green tea, vegetables and red wine - foods that are known for their antioxidant properties. (source : healthline)

Now that we learned about propolis' anti-oxidant properties, we could better understand why it is widely use in the skincare industry. :)

Review; It's Skin's Power 10 Formula Propolis

The product description is all in Korean. Basically, It's Skin's Power 10 Formula Propolis serum is formulated with a range of natural ingredients; for instance halla cham-honey, black rose, freesia, white daisy and bee propolis extracts.

To mention, this serum offers 4 benefits:

  • Moisturizing
  • Brightening
  • Whitening
  • Firming

The serum comes in sturdy opaque glass packaging and a rubber dropper with glass pipette, which is their standard packaging from the Power 10 Formula Series.

Texture wise, the serum glides on the skin smoothly, but not too watery. Quite a nice consistency.

There is a noticeable artificial sweet fragrance and I find it a bit overpowering. If you're not a fan of fragrance at all, do take note on that.

For the first week of usage, I applied the Propolis serum on my whole face, ended up it gave me breakouts. I suspected the serum is too moisturizing for my combination skin type.

Now I'm only applying the serum on my neck area and so far it seems to be a perfect match! The serum quickly absorbed, delivers the moisturizing effect without feeling sticky around my neck area. Currently I'm applying it every night as part of my night skincare routine.

Do I notice any brightening or whitening effect after using this serum? I will say no, at least not significantly.

I bought this serum from Althea for RM33. This product is also available on Hermo.
